A Nice New Bulgarian Name

In 1984 The Bulgarian government began a program of “Bulgarisation” in which the Turkish minority were forced to take new Bulgarian names. The Government even erased Turkish names from headstones, renaming the dead with Bulgarian names in an attempt to erase even the memory of the existence of a Turkish minority. The forced assimilation also included the banning of tradition Turkish trousers.
